E3 Middle School Literacy Partners

Literacy is a priority and you can help! Student success in school is built on literacy and not just being able to read, but being able to understand what you read. Kids learn to read and then they read to learn, but comprehension is a key! Achievement in school is built on the ability to read at or above grade level. Reading comprehension is paramount.

In 2006 we joined with Employers for Education Excellence (E3) and local corporate and business partners to found the Literacy Partners Program. CPSF provids key financial support to ensure that our mentoring program is a success.

If you would like to become a mentor for a Cheldelin or Linus Pauling Middle School student by reading with them for one hour each week during the school year the application form is found here.

You must complete the application and email it to our office. Then you must print the Criminal History Background Verification form, complete it and sign it and mail it or deliver it to our office at:

CPSF
1555 SW 35th Street
Corvallis, OR 97333

We will process the criminal background form with the State of Oregon and notify you as soon as you are cleared to serve as a volunteer.

If you have questions about being a mentor:

At Linus Pauling contact Assistant Principal David Jakious at 541-757-5961 or email David at david.jakious@corvallis.k12.or.us

At Cheldelin contact Assistant Principal Tin Kha at 541-757-5971 or email Tin at tin.kha@corvallis.k12.or.us

For other questions or if you need assistance contact the Foundation office at 541-757-5857.
