Since launching the Resource Drive at the end of October, we have been truly amazed by the generosity of our community and the outpouring of support for families in need across the Corvallis School District. Below are just a few of the many inspiring stories of people rallying together to make an even bigger impact than any one individual could make alone.
La Raza Juntos Youth Group
This summer, Corvallis High School students with the La Raza Juntos Youth Group raised funds for a field trip to Seattle. But when SNAP benefits were cut and vital programs were put at risk, the students made a remarkable choice: they redirected those savings and added their own personal contributions to purchase essential resources for families experiencing hardship. In total, they donated $520 worth of food and supplies to the Resource Drive. Read our story, “A Lesson in Generosity: La Raza Teens Rally for Their Community” to learn more.
The SHOP
The SHOP, a strength and conditioning gym in downtown Corvallis, organized their own collection effort for the Resource Drive. Their members responded with such enthusiasm that the gym ended up making two separate deliveries to the District Office, an incredible show of community-driven support.
First United Methodist Church Corvallis
This past week, First United Methodist Church Corvallis donated eighty-eight $50 WinCo Foods gift cards, an extraordinary $4,400 in total. These gift cards provide families with the opportunity to purchase fresh produce and cultural and diet specific food, making them especially impactful. Their congregation’s generosity has made a meaningful difference.
Orangetheory Fitness
Within just days of the Resource Drive launching, Orangetheory Fitness Corvallis set up a collection table and put out a call to action to its members. In less than a week, they had gathered and delivered food, gift cards, and essential resources. Since then, they’ve made two more deliveries and are still going! We are deeply grateful to the Orangetheory owners, team, and clients for stepping up so quickly and wholeheartedly.
The ongoing support from our community has been incredible, and we have no plans to slow down or conclude the Resource Drive at this time. While SNAP benefits have been restored for now and the government is reopening, many families in our community are still experiencing urgent needs for food and other essential items. Several ongoing challenges continue to make access difficult—and those needs often become even more acute during the holiday season.
Thank you for your continued support of our school district families. Your generosity is making a real and lasting difference!
